About the Project
Axonius partnered with Ruckus on a branded documentary series built around their platform, Controlling Complexity, and the idea that the people who thrive in high stakes environments understand how to navigate chaos with discipline and clarity. I directed films featuring Olympic icon Simone Biles and adaptive athlete Amy Bream, shaping each story to feel intimate and human rather than spokesperson-driven.
The campaign evolved into a second phase that expanded the concept from personal resilience to ripple effect. The Adaptation film uses a "shift in perception" structure that begins as a formal documentary, then turns the camera around by bringing Simone and Amy into the interview space as participants and storytellers. The film intertwines the stories of Alex and her family and Friends of the Children, culminating in a real, emotionally grounded surprise moment that reveals tangible support and celebrates the impact of showing up for others.
Why This Exists
In cybersecurity, the stakes are real, but the storytelling is often abstract. Axonius saw a gap in a crowded category where competitors rarely feature human beings or the complexity of their lives, and the campaign was designed to close that gap with character-driven documentary language.
It was also built to perform at scale. The campaign generated 72M+ impressions, a 690% increase in website traffic since launch, and 201k+ clicks. Channel execution included YouTube (17.9M impressions, 165,782 clicks, 0.93% CTR) and programmatic efforts that reached 42.11M impressions. Behind the numbers, the creative goal stayed simple: make "complexity" feel like a human story, then prove that impact can move from inspiration to action.
